Two weeks ago we got an email from a company named infolinks. Because we run a lot of websites we get at least 1 email every day from ad companies that want us to change to their ad system and make them money. Because most of the companies contacting sites That way make you less money than your existing ad company we normally don’t bother to reply.

But there was something that made me interested in infolinks so i replied and talked with a nice girl that convinced us to try out their ads for a trial period.

Infolinks is a kind of contextual text link company. So they don’t have flashy banners, screaming monsters trying to make you win on lottery. What they do is that they scan your text on your website and makes some words into links. If a visitor at your site hovers a link an ad os shown. Its an expanding small ad that tries to get the visitor to click the link . When they do you get paid depending on the worth of that link. So if you got a blog about poker, gambling or leta say insurance you can expect better cpc.

We have tested infolinks for about Two weeks and our average CPM is about $ 0.30 which is pretty good for an entertainment site i think. The negative side with ads like this is that might annoy visitor that belive the links are internal links but they end up on an advertisers site after clicking. I was a little suprised when reviewing the affect the ads had on our visitor stats. I cant see any changes at all. What i think might happen is that some visitors hate it and never will return, but it looks like it is very few that bother the ads.

Ads like those from infolinks can be a great complement to your normal ads like banners.  There is only a limited space where you can put banners without overdoing it, so text links can help you maximize your revenue.

The stats are simple but effective! You see the number of impressions, clicks and CTR and CPM. Last but not least you get your daily earnings. If you have more than one site that you use infolinks on, you can filter on sites as well.
